At Ivy College, you’ll study 3 times a week with 2 face-to-face days at the
established Actors Centre Australia (ACA) – where many celebrities and
stars such as Hugh Jackson learned their craft.
You will also have one day of online study tutorials to help blend your
study. To accommodate a range of learning styles, we offer a unique
blended learning model centred on your needs.

This includes:

  •  Face-to-face practical classes located at the Actors Centre Australia in
    Sydney providing you with the ability to practice in live production sets
    and on real-world real-world actors.
  • Online theory classes and tutorials that you can study at your own
    pace each week on any day of the week! If you miss a webinar, we‘ll
    always send you the recording to view after!
  • Additional support materials such as online tutorials, web links,
    handouts and readings readily accessible from Ivy’s online LMS
  • Regular individual or group contact with trainers via telephone, forums,
    open source web-conferencing, Skype and email.

Trainer Support

At Ivy we believe there’s no such thing as too much support.

Your experienced trainer is available to offer help and advice at every stage of the course, starting with a welcome telephone call during orientation. Throughout your studies you may contact your trainer with any course-related query by logging into myIVY, telephone, LiveChat or video conference – based on your needs. As you may be juggling study with work or other commitments your trainer is also available to assist at designated times outside of business hours.

If you would like additional support you also have access to one-day workshops, where you can gain one-on-one support from your trainer. (i)

Technical Support

The technical support team is available to assist you with password resets, myIVY features and functionality and other general technical enquiries.  Simply raise a support ticket through myIVY or telephone during business hours. (i)

Student Networking 

You will have many opportunities to interact with your course peers, including supporting each other via online discussion forums. Friendly debates can often turn into excellent learning opportunities! If attending the workshops you will meet your peers in person and may develop and build relationships that last well and truly past your course end date.

Entry requirements

The minimum age for students enrolling in the CUA51015 Diploma of Screen and Media with Ivy College is 18 years at time of enrolment.

To enrol, you will need capability in English and mathematics to at least Year 12 level. To show evidence of this capability, during the enrolment process you will need to have satisfied the following:

  • Provide a copy of your senior secondary certificate in education or equivalent, or
  • Provide a copy of a nationally recognised diploma or higher qualification (completed within the last 5 years), or
  • Successfully complete the Entry Test

All students are also required to have a unique email address and access to a computer with an internet connection.

Technology requirements

Upon successful application, you will gain access to myIVY, your purpose-built learning management system, in order to complete your coursework and assessment tasks. To do this you will need access to a computer satisfying the following minimum systems requirements:

Operating system: Windows, Mac OS X, Linux

Software: Adobe Acrobat Reader (latest versions available for free download at Adobe website)

Internet: Supported browsers include Firefox 3+, Google Chrome 4+, Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and 8, Opera 9+, Safari 3+ (download latest browser software for free online).  You will need a reliable internet connection, preferably Broadband (64 Kbit/sec or faster)

Access to a printer and digital camera/recording device may be required.

Students are required to undertake a Work Placement and secure a suitable Workplace Supervisor within a salon environment. If needed, Ivy can assist students to secure an appropriate work placement.  Any student unable to access a work placement will be given the opportunity to practice, demonstrate and apply the required skills and knowledge at Ivy College workshops (utilising a simulated or real beauty clinic environment).

Study hours include reading and understanding course materials in myIVY, attending workshops, attempting practice activities, communicating with trainer, completing assessment tasks and work placement.
